The Second District in Vienna is center for many Jewish activities. During the second world war, it was from here most Jews in Vienna were deported and small brass plaques on the sidewalks tell us all the names of those who were murdered. Most recently the Jewish community celebrated Sukkot by dancing on the streets and playing joyful music. You can read more about Sukkot on

Are the small brass plaques new? I don't remember ever seeing them. Way back in the early 80s I would take Amanda in her stroller on long walks around the 2nd District. There were still the remains of shop and artisan names on a few building facades from the time the area was Jewish.
